It was high school
when it turned...
Other girls were worried about being tan (or not looking like orange leather) and having cute clothes (remember Z Cavaricci and PePe jeans). Me, I was at the salon picking out a new hair color.
I remember spraying my hair with Sun-In one summer (you know you did too) and I swear it went down hill from there. I fought it, to the point that I rebelled against it. My hairdresser will be the first to remind me of the time I wore my burgundy Timberlands to the salon and said, "make my hair match my boots". Yah, I had problems.
You see, my dad turned when he was 15, but he started out with black hair. So I was sure that my blonde roots would not have his fate. My mom swears that she was a late bloomer and was well into her 40s. Mom, if you are reading this...your secret is safe with me...
Then 2011 became the year that some celebrities tried to make it look cool. They were all shockingly ok, but none of them actually looked like it was their real hair color...why would anyone want to go faux?
The one thing they all had in common? SHORT HAIR. I think that I will go for it when I cut my hair off again. I read that you have to completely bleach the whole thing to get the gray hair color to take. Yikes on long hair...it would probably end up short after I went all crazy on it anyways.
Lots of ladies my age try to tell me that I must be living wrong, or else I wouldn't be gray already... http://beautymakeupdaily.com/9-causes-of-gray-hair.html
And some people think that it is a wonderful, natural thing...

For the past 15 years I have been trying to embrace my premature gray. Lexi's teacher calls them "sparklies" - showing some love for those horrible, hated grays. Each year I debate whether I will let it grow out or not, and each year my friends give me much grief about how ridiculous I would look. All I know is that I want to look like this lady when I actually let it go.
Until then, I will continue using the bottle. Why not...lots of good things come in a bottle. I just might go pour something out of a bottle right now!♥
Happy Flapjack Friday!
